'Hidden in the Beauty'

There is a second layer to every beautiful thing — the thing you find only once you have already stopped to look. The forget-me-nots announce themselves in blue. The hydrangea opens in its full, domestic abundance. The elderflower blooms bring their cream and their suggestion of long warm evenings. But then: the unopened hydrangea buds, tight and waiting, carrying everything the open flower already spent. And hemlock umbels, precise and slightly dangerous, belonging to the same family as Queen Anne’s Lace and knowing it.

This pendant holds all of it in an ornate scroll oval — the obvious beauty and the hidden beauty together, sealed under resin so neither has to choose. The one who wears it will know what is in there. The one who looks will see only that it is beautiful.

For the one who always finds the second layer.
