'Hidden in the Beauty'

There is a second layer to every beautiful thing — the thing you find only once you have already stopped to look. The forget-me-nots announce themselves in blue. The hydrangea opens in its full, domestic abundance. The elderflower blooms bring their cream and their suggestion of long warm evenings. But then: the unopened hydrangea buds, tight and waiting, carrying everything the open flower already spent.
