'The Night Garden'

The garden at night is not the same garden. It empties of color in one sense and fills with it in another — the blues go deep, the whites become luminous, the shapes that were busy all day simplify into something more essential.

Against a deep navy ground, white hydrangea and grass stand in the kind of light that only exists after sundown.
