The Assignment

A young photographer crossed an ocean to document a royal procession.

But wonder had other plans.

Instead of remaining with the dignitaries and ceremonies, she followed music drifting from distant camps. She sat with travelers. Shared meals with strangers. Wandered dusty roads toward places she had never intended to visit.

In Ronda, she met a bullfighter.

Years later, their daughter would hold flowers in her hands and wonder why beauty seemed to speak.
