'Fields Of Tuscany'

Before Rome, there were the Etruscans — a civilization in the same hills, the same valleys, the same light of Tuscany. Their language has not been fully decoded. Their spiritual tradition, the Etrusca disciplina, centered on reading the landscape: lightning, the flight of birds, the entrails of animals. The earth was speaking. Their job was to listen.

The cypress trees that line Tuscan hillsides were not planted for beauty. They were planted for the dead. Sacred to Hecate, to Persephone, to the journey between worlds, cypress marks the threshold. An avenue of cypress was a preparation — the body slowing, the breath deepening, the world changing character before you arrived.

The fields still hold all of it. Light, clay, limestone, and something older underneath.

This is for the woman who feels ancient things when she stands in old places.
