'Full Moon Full Heart'

For most of human history, women's cycles and lunar cycles ran together — 29.5 days each, synchronized by darkness, disrupted only by the invention of artificial light. The full moon was the peak of the ovulatory cycle: maximum receptivity, maximum creative power, maximum visibility. Entire agricultural and ceremonial calendars were built around this synchrony.

The lunar month still governs the Islamic calendar, Jewish holidays, the calculation of Easter. The moon still pulls the tides. The body still knows, even when the mind has been told to forget.
