'Masquerade'

This piece was one of the earliest full messages to flow through and I don't evaluate or question anything. I just turn myself over to be used as an instrument of creation. Who would imagine that the energy, the color, even the smallest of fragments have dreams and possibilities to collapse. When I was able to really see the story these tiny fragments of cedar tips, deutzia leaves, shattered dahlia petals, crushed marigold, yarrow, and aged plum tree leaves, I couldn't help but chuckle. They reminded me of my youth, working backstage at the opera company here, and helping bring a full troupe of Commedia dell'Arte players come to life in the OTSL production of Ariadne auf Naxos. The feeling and the colors of this piece take me back to days of inspired joy as a young girl, where some fragment of my memory, reached out to connect to the energy in these pieces and resonate. At least I try to think there's something of me in these pieces. Either way, like a kid, I still love seeing the performance come to life.
