'Palomas Heart'

The dove appears as a symbol of peace in cultures with no contact with each other. Greek (Aphrodite's bird, the dove of Dodona speaking oracles), Hebrew (Noah's covenant, the spirit descending at the Jordan), Sumerian (Inanna's sacred bird), Aztec (Xochiquetzal, goddess of love and beauty), Slavic, Celtic, Hindu. No single origin. The same symbol arriving independently because the dove itself carries it.

Paloma. Spanish for dove. A name given to daughters. The hope that she will carry peace wherever she goes — not the absence of conflict, but the presence of something that makes conflict beside the point. The dove does not fight. She arrives and something changes in the air of a room.

The heart of the paloma. The peace that is also a presence.
