'The Big Oak'

The Big Oak is the story about survival. I have lived my entire life this far under the protection of this oak. When winds pick or sirens go off, I may be found in a basement, but my heart is forever attached to this tree. As a child i had picnics with my dolls underneath, people get married under her, my husband proposed to me with a ring hanging from her branches, and we said our vows in exactly the same place. She is my mentor, my anchor, my teacher, my grounding and the only elder I have left. What I can tell you is that I have survived quite a bit, but this girl runs concentric circles buried deep within her for everything she has endure, stood through. Alone in everything yet stalwart and determined to persevere. I know that I'm just an adopted human to her, but I think I may have inherited some of her qualities, for which I will always be honored, and forever loyal.
